What is this Canadian sport all about?
The SDDA promotes the fun and competitive version of scent detection, such as for narcotics, bed bugs or explosives.
However, sport detection uses legal scents that the dog will learn to look for in a fun and engaging manner. All dogs can do it and do it very well!
The real fun begins when the dog learns how to locate a hidden target scent within a certain area and alert the handler to its location. Both the handler and the dog learn to work together, helping each other, thus, a partnership is born.
During the workshop only one dog will search at a time, therefore dogs with various challenges can enjoy the scenting game!
